Partners for Detroit

DetroitOpportunity
Our client is a German-based, special machine builder that produces highly sophisticated automated assembly equipment for the automotive industry. The client manages engineering, specification and sales centrally from its German headquarters, however, was interested in developing a partnership with a qualified US company to handle installation support and maintenance for its machines.

Action
Based on TransAdvantage’s existing relationship with another US spcial machine builder, we were able to facilitate a mutually very beneficial relationship. By bringing both of our clients together, we were able to achieve significant, reciprocal synergies for both parties.

Results
Although the US client provides similar, automotive assembly technology, the companies are not at all competitive. Rather, there are substantial synergies. The German client gained a competent partner to represent it at various North American automotive plants, while the American client obtained a strong opportunity to expand its service portfolio and thus exposure to the same clients in the US. In turn, it is likely that the product line of the American client will be supported in a similar fashion among German based automotive manufacturers. Appropriate legal arrangements for the mutual and reciprocal protection of both companies intellectual property and associated non-compete agreements were facilitated.

We would be glad to share details of our work without identifying the client’s name or specifics which would allow identification of the company or its competitors.
