In 1996 the Air Force Research Laboratory, Dayton Development Coalition, EMTEC, University of Dayton Research Institute and the State of Ohio Department of Development established the National Center of Composites Systems Technology (now known as the National Composites Center). This exempt applied research and development organization’s goal is to unlock mainstream commercial markets and tap a vast resource in composites for new business opportunities. Since then NCC has become the model for commercialization scale-up and technology transfer management for manufacturers and its successes have generated significant returns.
